Join me as I transform our apartment into a warm, timeless home, sharing my interior design process, challenges, practical solutions and lessons along the way.

Creating a home isn’t something that happens overnight. It takes time, and along the way, challenges appear, priorities shift, and sometimes the vision you originally had for a space changes entirely.
I’m currently in the midst of making our apartment feel more like home, and for a while, I kept questioning whether it was worth making any more changes. We’re hoping to sell in approximately two years, depending on the property market, so naturally, I’ve been weighing up whether the time and money spent would be worthwhile.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realised that the changes I have in mind aren’t necessarily major renovations. They’re thoughtful additions that I believe will make a difference to how our home looks and feels.
When I think about the overall direction I want to take our apartment, I’m drawn to interiors that feel timeless, warm and full of character. I love classic design elements, but I also want our home to feel contemporary and, most importantly, lived in.
For me, it’s not about filling a space with beautiful furniture or following the latest trends. It’s about considering how each element works together, how the space is used and the feeling it creates when you walk into a room.
I’ve always been drawn to classic luxury, where timeless design, beautiful details and carefully considered pieces come together to create a sense of elegance without feeling overly formal. With our apartment overlooking a golf course, I’ve taken inspiration from the understated elegance of traditional country clubs, as I feel this direction complements our surroundings while still creating a warm, comfortable home for our family.
One of the changes I’m looking at is introducing wall moulding throughout certain areas of our apartment. I want to create more depth and character while complementing the surroundings and bringing a sense of cohesion to our home. I’m also looking at installing curtains to soften the spaces and add that extra layer of warmth.
Of course, these changes come at a cost, and that’s something I’m very conscious of. But I’m also looking at the bigger picture. Not only will we get to enjoy these improvements while we’re living here, but I’m hoping they’ll also give our apartment a little more of an edge when the time comes to put it on the market.
And then there’s our second bedroom, which is probably going to be one of the more challenging spaces to figure out.
At the moment, it’s primarily my partner’s office, but soon it will also need to become our son’s bedroom. So the challenge is finding a way for two very different purposes to work together in one space. I need to consider my partner’s working needs while creating a bedroom that feels like it belongs to our son, with safety, storage and functionality all playing an important part in the design.
Our bedroom is another space I’ve been thinking about.
Right now, there isn’t a great deal happening in there. We have our bed, along with our son’s toddler bed tucked into the corner. While this arrangement has worked for us, I would love to eventually create a sanctuary for my partner and me, somewhere we can both unwind, relax and feel a sense of calm at the end of the day.
Of course, that also means helping our son transition into his own room, which is another journey in itself!
As you can probably tell, there are quite a few areas of our home that I’m hoping to tackle, and each comes with its own considerations. Some changes will be relatively simple, while others will require a little more thought, planning and probably a few changes of direction along the way.
So I’ve decided to start an interiors series here on Her Honest Space, bringing you along as I slowly transform our apartment.
I’ll be sharing my design process, the challenges I come across and the solutions I explore along the way. But I also want this series to be more than just sharing the changes happening in our home.
I want to talk about the thought process behind my decisions, why I feel certain elements work together, how I approach functionality and the little details that can make a difference to a space.
I’ll also be sharing lessons I’ve learnt from past projects and experiences, including things that worked, things I’d do differently and how my perspective on interiors has evolved over time.
This won’t be a series with a strict schedule because creating a home takes time, and life has a way of getting in between our plans.
There will probably be ideas that change, challenges I hadn’t anticipated and moments where I need to rethink my original plans. But that’s all part of creating a home, isn’t it?
I’m excited to bring you along, share what I’ve learnt and hopefully inspire you to look at your own spaces a little differently. And who knows, perhaps we’ll learn a thing or two from one another along the way.
